Why is Medicare Different?

Medicare has very specific rules for chiropractic care. Unlike other insurance, chiropractors are considered “mandatory Medicare providers”, which means we cannot opt out or simply give patients a superbill to submit. Medicare covers manual spinal adjustments when they meet Medicare’s requirements for active treatment of a spinal subluxation. Exams, x-rays, wellness care, and many other services provided by chiropractors are not covered under the Medicare chiropractic benefit.

Destination Chiropractic does not bill Medicare. If you have Medicare, please let us know so we can explain which services we are able to provide on a self-pay basis and whether your chiropractic care would need to be provided by a Medicare-billing chiropractor.

If you have questions before scheduling, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help clarify your options.
